On Monday 23rd July, fifty of our Year 9 students took their learning beyond the classroom with an exciting and educational visit to RAF Cosford. The trip served as a fantastic way to complement this year’s history curriculum, especially their work on the Cold War.
Students participated in a Cold War workshop, engaging in debates around this pivotal period of history to life. They also explored the museum’s incredible collection of aircraft and exhibits, deepening their understanding of Britain’s military history and the role of the RAF.
We are especially grateful to the Astwood Bank branch of the Royal British Legion, whose generous financial support helped make this trip possible. We were also honoured to be joined on the day by Dave and Jan Hall, with Dave being a former RAF veteran and air crew member on one of the helicopters currently on display in the museum—a truly memorable connection for our students. A special thank you also goes to Richard Keeling, one of our dedicated School Governors and an Army veteran, for his ongoing support.
It was a fantastic day of hands-on learning, inspiration, and reflection—one that our students won’t soon forget.
