Ridgeway Secondary School – Parent Carer Forum

Empowering Families. Supporting Students. Strengthening Community.

At Ridgeway Secondary School, we believe that a strong partnership between school and home is key to every child’s success. Our Parent Carer Forum is a dedicated space where parents and carers can connect, share, and collaborate with the school in a meaningful way.

What is the Parent Carer Forum?

The Parent Carer Forum is a supportive network for all parents and carers of Ridgeway students. It’s a space to:

  • Be heard and valued.

  • Share experiences and ideas.

  • Work collaboratively with the school to enhance student wellbeing and inclusion.

We focus on creating an open dialogue and building trust so that every family feels part of the Ridgeway community.

Our Focus Areas

Family Wellbeing

We recognise the importance of supporting the whole family. The Forum discusses topics such as mental health, emotional resilience, community wellbeing and all things SEND. We also provide resources and links to local and national support services.

Transition Support

Moving between key stages or into secondary school can be challenging. We work with families to smooth transitions, whether your child is starting Year 7 or preparing for post-16 education.

Understanding Pastoral & SEND Support

We aim to help parents and carers better understand the vital roles of our Pastoral and SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) teams. Learn how they support your child’s emotional, social, and learning needs and how you can work alongside them.

️ Liaising with Parental Ambassadors

Two Parent Ambassadors are available to help you navigate school life. They serve as friendly points of contact, listen to your feedback, and represent parent voice within school development plans.

Signposting to Support & Early Help

If your family is facing challenges, we can guide you to the right support. Whether it’s early help services, counselling, financial advice, or parenting courses—we’re here to connect you with what you need.

Join the Conversation

The Parent Carer Forum meets termly, with both in-person and online options to ensure accessibility for all. You don’t have to attend every session—just come when you can, and know that your voice matters.
