Within a Multi Academy Trust, each academy school will usually have its own local governing committee (LGC). These have similar status to committees of a maintained governing body and the only powers they have are those delegated to them by the board. This is normally formalised into a scheme of delegation.

The governors of Ridgeway Secondary School are volunteers, committed to ensuring that all the children receive the best education possible. The role of the Governing Body is a strategic one with three key functions:

  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
  • Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils.
  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.

The governors meet twice every term and visit the school on a regular basis. Meetings for this academic year are:

1 – 24.09.25

2 – 19.11.25

3 – 11.02.26

4 – 25.03.26

5 – 17.06.26
