Year 11 Geography Trip – Bushy Park

Dear Parents / Guardians,

RE: Geography Trip- Bushy Park

We are arranging a GCSE Geography field trip to FSC Bushy Park on Monday the 7th October.

Field Studies Council (FSC) is an environmental education charity providing informative and enjoyable opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to discover, explore, and understand the environment. FSC believes that the more we know about and take inspiration from the world around us the more we can appreciate its needs and protect its diversity and beauty for future generations.

Our trip is at their centre in Bushy Park (London) and is tailored to the needs of the AQA curriculum we are following to gain field work knowledge and practical skills aimed towards their GCSE exam. To look at the centre go on the website and choose the centre name. We will be covering both qualitative methods (field sketch, photographs, habitat mapping) and quantitive methods (pedestrian counts, environmental quality survey and belt transect) during the course.

students will need to arrive at school on the morning of the visit by 7.00 am. We will return to school at around 6.00 pm – please make suitable arrangements for pick up and drop off. students will need to wear suitable nonschool uniform as we will be outside for most of the day whatever the weather. Please could students bring a packed lunch, snacks and a drink in a non-breakable container. students will also need to bring a pen or pencil.

The cost of the trip is £35.00 per students, this includes
• Expert tuition by fully trained permanent staff.

• Rigorous and proven health and safety procedures including 24 hour emergency cover and access to risk assessments.

• All equipment and resources needed.

• Personal and travel insurance.

• Travel to and from centre and field sites.

We would like your permission for your son/daughter to attend this trip. We will need the final balance of £35.00 by Wednesday 2nd October. Please make payment via Parent Pay.

Please come to see me if you have any questions about the trip, phone or email on 01527 892867 or
Yours Sincerely
