RE: Face Coverings
As we prepare for the reopening of school next week you will have seen on the news coverage of face coverings in schools. We anticipate this to be a moving picture and we will of course keep you updated as the situation continues to develop.
We have had a small number of parents contact us regarding the school buses. This letter is intended to clarity the school transport situation.
All buses will be operating as normal from September. Face covering are required to be worn on public transport (this includes any school transport) for any students in year 7 – 11.
The exception to this is that face coverings (or any form of medical masks where instructed to be used for specific clinical reasons) should not be worn in any circumstances by those who may not be able to handle them as directed (for example, students with special educations needs or disabilities) as it may inadvertently increase the risk of transmission.
All students who are travelling to school via public transport must also bring a sealable bag with them to school, their face covering will need to be placed into their sealable bag prior to entering the school.
As Redditch is not currently a high transmission area, there is no need to wear face coverings around the school. However, should students wish to wear a face covering for moving around the school in communal areas this will be acceptable. Face coverings are not needed for lessons and should not be worn in classrooms.
